Mountain Island Lake
General Overview: 
Mountain Island Lake is a beautiful 3,000 acre lake with a mild four season climate. It borders on Gaston County and Mecklenburg County. The lake is an important wildlife habitat. It also offers many recreational activities including boating and fishing, water skiing, sailing jet skiing, and kayaking. It is also the source of drinking water for the residents of Mecklenburg and Gaston counties.

The area of Mountain Island Lake can feel very rural, yet it is well served by several major highways and airports. Transportation is easily available. It is the home of Northlake Mall.
