Dilworth – Myers Park
General Overview:
Dilworth and Meyers Park were among the earliest of Charlotte’s suburbs, built along the original street car lines that extended from the city. Both maintain their historic, cultured, look and feel. Dilworth was planned with a grid pattern and features mature oak trees and sidewalks. It has bungalow homes with front porches primarily, although larger colonial style homes can also be found. Meyers Park is laid out with curving oak tree lined avenues and features some of the city’s oldest and largest homes. The neighborhoods include lovely shopping and dining areas as well.
Special Features: Charlotte’s largest medical hospital, Carolinas Medical Center, is in Dilworth. The Mint Museum of Art and the Presbyterian Hospital are both in Meyers Park.
Schools:
Queens University, located at the center of Meyers Park, is a private, Presbyterian liberal arts school offering both graduate and undergraduate programs. It also features the McColl School of Business. It featues this and other programs designed for working professionals. Meyers Park Traditional School and Meyers Park High School round out some of the educational opportunities here.
